Growth – And What’s Wrong with The Media Anyway?

Green Man – huge potential for growth

True Growth Potential Remains Unrecognized

Michael Feller (is that feller as in tree feller or feller as in bloke?) makes some dubious comments in the Sydney Morning Herald recently in an article that starts out appearing to condemn the God of Economic Growth and then makes a catastrophic error.

Media studies is required now more than ever. There are of course journalists and journalists and media outlets ditto. It must be remarked that while media organizations accept paid advertising their ability to tell it like it is will remain compromised. But this is based on a deeper issue; it is the issue of consciousness.

As far as reporting the truth and the ability to report it goes, it may be helpful to make the following observation.  People in a materialistic state of consciousness will perceive reality in a materialistic framework. And while the materialists often point to the evils perpetrated by the Churches and adherents down the centuries claiming this as proof that there is no spiritual existence, it’s a very weak argument and one which can be dismantled with some simple Aristotelian logic. You are encouraged to do the simple logical one-two-three step that disproves that fallacious argument. Onward.

To make it easy to grok the central premise we could go to Amit Goswami retired professor of physics from Berkeley California who will tell us that the basis of matter is not physical stuff at all. And being a professor of physics he might know a thing or three. Along the lines that this material world is the illusion and that the basis of matter is consciousness. So the materialists are the ones who have got it all wrong. Far from them having to suffer the smug attitudes of Greenies, vegetarians, bicycle riders, tree huggers, zen meditators and various transcendentalists, it is the sensitive spiritualists who have to suffer daily crucifixion by the dullards. Bless those bastards! You see the fact is that we get seemingly sane journalists like Michael Feller (is that feller as in tree feller or feller as in bloke?) making some fairly dubious comments in an article that starts out well enough and then makes a few catastrophic wrong turns.

Here’s what the Tree Feller says:

If a team of interplanetary anthropologists were to descend to earth in their spacecraft, they would notice that, like some distant tribe who worships a panther’s claw, a voodoo mask or the gnarled roots of an ancient tree, the human race has a strange fetish for growth.

Whereas past civilisations built their pyramids to gods who brought rain, or made the rivers flow, in ours we shop. The temple is the air-conditioned mall, where we occasionally have lunch on small rolls of tuna and rice – a tasty mix of the endangered and the engineered – before maxing out the credit card on clothes we don’t need to impress people we hate.  Michael Feller – Growth The False God of Economics SMH October 9, 2012

As the joke goes, like a hundred dead lawyers – it’s a good start.  But then a little further on his line of reasoning starts to go off the rails: he says . . . From the self-development books of Oprah and Tony Robbins to the world records in the Olympic Games, the act of standing still, or of tomorrow not being better than yesterday, is the ultimate sin.

Yes Mr Feller I can see where you’re going and . . .that’s right. Evolution and growth, the act and art of becoming more of who you are is the goal. However. . . when you have a materialistic conception of reality then you will feel compelled to express this innate expression of self by laying waste to large tracts of nature, bullying, bulldozing and erecting . . .factories, shopping malls, skyscrapers. This is also know as conquering nature. In a word . . .rape.

And it is here that Mr Feller, having wandered somewhat from the path goes off course for a 4 wheel drive bush bash par excellence.

Yet economics beyond growth is exactly what we need if some kind of equilibrium is to be restored in the domestic and global economy. . . .we essentially need a no-growth environment.  OK . . . . i’m still istening

But how can such an agenda be pursued?  he asks wondering about the viability of both Capitalism and Socialism. And then he delivers the coup de grace.

Is deep ecology the answer? Not if you don’t wish to wear a hairshirt. Reducing our standard of living to the level of people Bono sings about is never going to be popular. Ditto for primitivism, survivalism and fundamentalist religion as well.

Now . . .i am sorry Mr Feller but this is where I deliver a rant about the crude ignorance of materialistic boof-heads. Go ahead and make up up your own rant . . .NOW!. But hey . . .Mr Feller, I understand that you tried, heroically to say some stuff about how we need to take a critical look at the God of Economic growth, except that you’ve stuffed it up brilliantly. Oh well, what the hell.

Here’s what I would suggest are the main points and how they can be clarified, improved upon and corrected.

1) Growth IS actually GOOD, just not the cancerous growth that is the product of Western style materialism. But . . . you can still have environmentally sensitive and sustainable economic growth, it just needs to be sensitive and sustainable.

2) Growth needs to be re-defined as that which has an inherent and essential metaphysical character. From this point of view we can learn how to hug trees without feeling the need to wear a hair shirt or move to Bolivia. Unless you really want to. Deep Ecology, yes we need more of that. No hair shirt required, just a little emotional honesty.

3) Once we learn how to re-define growth from the point of view of material reality being based on consciousness (a la the quantum science of Amit Goswami et al) all of the elegant, congruent and harmonious perspectives of how we can profitably align with the universe (in the deeper as well as immediate sense) will become much clearer much more easily. This will occur through self-organisation of the geometry of the mind. When your vibratory rate of consciousness changes so will your world-view – through self organizing mental phenomenon. Oh yes this might just be too revolutionary for the pop-up toaster brigade. But that’s why we have laws in society. They are not there just to help the rich get richer. No! They are there to protect the sacred balance of life from boof-heads, dickheads and various wilderbeast.

4) Ultimately it’s a choice. It’s a choice between Love and Hate, between contracting with fear or expanding with love. It’s a choice between dominating the world and nature and having dominion in nature – which will require awakened consciousness. It’s a choice . . .and there ain’t nuthin wrong with Deep Ecology. Think about that next time you’re being hailed on, stormed at, flooded, burnt, singed and shrieked at in the feedback loop of infinity. Nature is very kind, kinder than you may imagine, and She is waiting for you to awaken to this very potent fact. Quantum Out.

Quantum Goddess and The Rise of The Machines

18 07 2012

The Tree of Life

You are so much more than a computer

An article in the  Sydney Morning Herald today – Rise of The Machines July 18, 2012 – starts out straightforwardly enough. But reading further we see that the messenger is indeed a carrier of the very meme-virus he is warning us about. Reduction of  Humans to the level of Machines.

One of the founding engineers of Kaaza and Skype  Jaan Tallin is in Australia warning about the threat that computers pose to the future of humankind. While this is def scary it is certainly nothing new.  After all Sun Microsystems founder Bill Joy caused a storm of controversy when he said the same thing (and with a fair bit more of the desired complexity) in an article in Wired Magazine titled: Why The Future Doesn’t Need Us in April 2000.

So here’s the thing. Anyone who is watching the horizon of humanity’s venture into a future filled with all kinds of possibilities, would well and truly know by now that the Rise of The Machines is one of the biggest threats we face. The line is after all taken from the very popular Terminator series.  But Jaan Tallin gives himself away as a bit a machine head himself. Here’s a quote from the article

“Once you acknowledge that human brains are basically made of atoms and acknowledge that atoms are governed by simple laws of physics then there is no reasoning principle why computers couldn’t do anything that people are doing and we don’t really see any evidence that this is not the case,” said Tallinn.

Oh Boy. Here we go again. Well Mr Tallin, it seems that you have in one simple statement reduced the human-being to the machine-being. Admittedly when you say that human brains are basically made of atoms, this is ambiguous. But you have not suggested anywhere that human beings might have souls. The implication of your statement is rather to the contrary. And this you see is the real problem. For there is something that machines can’t do that human beings can do and that is to create miracles.

One of the greatest observers of the human condition in our written history – Rodolf Steiner – has advanced arguments since the early part of the 20th Century that there are three basic forces that shape human evolution. These are 1) The Christos 2) The Luciferic and 3) Ahrimanic (what we think of today as Satan). Contrary to the fundamentalist Christian doctrine the Luciferic and the Ahrimanic should not be  considered as merely evil per se. Apparently their influence represents a point of evolution at which humanity overcomes evil and transcends it. The “evil” forces have their part to play in human spiritual evolution.  The problem arises when they get out of balance in human affairs. As they are trying to do today.

According to the Steiner school of thought which supports an enlightened and loving type of Christian or Gnostic occultism called Anthroposophy . . .the Ahrimanic Forces are active wherever we see people attempting to reduce the human being to the level of atoms and nothing more. This point of view has more or less ruled most academic and scientific thought for the past hundred years or so. It has produced a level of thinking in the halls of our most learned establishments which is pretty much on track for the kind of future that Hitler had planned for human kind. Enslavement, suppression, destruction and human lives lacking in any kind of dignity. This is the materialist, reductionist path. Jaan Tallin is right to fear it. The irony is that he is now representing it with his statements.

This is the paradoxical nature of affairs that we have come to. And furthermore one risks ridicule from the powers that be when one speaks out for the truth that the Christos represents because many powerful and learned people presume to know that which they do not. This is defined as arrogance.

A brilliant book which was 20 years in the making, explains how our “left hemisphere” brain thinking has come to dominate the world-view of academics and scientists. You can read a coherent and concise description of this Quantum-Goddess work (better than a master-work!) on the following link. The book’s title is The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World Thanks to and courtesy of The Scientific and Medical Network. And thanks to the comment by Jan (see Comments this post) – for sharing this information.

So where does the Quantum Goddess come into all of this? Well according to the Steiner school and others besides, modern day Christianity has more or less lost the feminine aspect of the Divine and consequently has more or less lost the plot. The feminine aspect is referred to as The Divine Sophia. Now, you don’t have to engage in Medieval Worship routines to honor and bring that energy into your life. What you CAN start doing is to move away from mechanistic and reductionist levels of thinking and behaviours. This enslaves the human spirit.

Start treating each person, plant and animal with respect, consideration and an in-the-moment consciousness of love that honors the intimacy of every moment. You see, machines are incapable of that. And when you honor the intimacy of every moment, you are by definition not being arrogant, you are now being truly humble, because you are seeing every moment as being the brand new moment of creation that it is. Here’s a nice little prayer to Sophia from Sophis Goddess of Wisdom by Katia Romanoff.

The Hail Sophia

Hail Sophia, filled with Light, the Christ is with thee. Blessed art thou among the Aeons and blessed is the liberator of thy Light, Jesus. Holy Sophia, Mother of all Gods, pray to the Light for us thy children, now and in the hour of our death, Amen.

You can say it without having to feel foolish and yes it will invoke the very electronic and sub-atomic presence of the Quantum Goddess. That’s because the magic is in YOU. Of course. The Atom Heart Mother is in you and you are in her. Change can happen instantly. Growth takes forever.  Re the video below . . I tried to find something worthwhile on the Divine Sophia on Youtube. Maybe i didn’t look hard enough. This is an excellent production that ties together Quantum Theory, Sacred Geometry and the very relevant information relating to the suppression of the feminine. A must see production for our times.

I have just re-viewed this enchanting video, which, posted as a reply to Deep Ecology and The Emergence of New Consciousness (now with updated links)- on these pages recently has sat patiently in my subconscious waiting for just the right moment to emerge and be wonderful all over again. It is waiting to be wonderful for you too. Click play if you dare to be enchanted. (Dr Quantum is writing a series of books on The Goddess Shakti and for now must be brief)

The Wild Wild East Meets West

The aesthetic of abstraction gets it all done perfectly

There is no such thing as “junk DNA”. . .everything has a bright lucid meaning in the mind of the Quantum Goddess. Dissolve, evolve, transcend and stop making sense. Surrender your ego at the door. At the edge of infinity, shapes, colours, forms are at once inconclusive and present a radiant storm of possibility that can cascade from the rocks or from nothing to become a garden or a garbage dump . . . this is the wild wild East meets West. Trust yourself enough to surrender to the moment. You always do

Comrade Lenin Licked a Lime Splice

22 03 2012

Lenin on his way to the shops for a Lime Splice

I Scream You Scream We Scream for Ice Cream

It is a well known fact among historians that Comrade Lenin liked to lick the Lime Splice. But they forgot to mention it. What historians always seem to carp on about were his political carryings on. Oh Hello! Just give us the facts. Here’s a guy who was a hard core ice cream eatin’ fool. And of course his absolute all time fave the Lime Splice. Let’s just say that Lenin was a big ice cream eater.

Full name: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin – spearheaded the October Revolution in Russia in 1917 as leader of the Bolsheviks. And it was all about ice cream for eveyone. Don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. Lenin was reputed to be a good talker when he wasn’t shovelling it down. You don’t see it in most pictures but he was quite rotund. Whilst not much of a head for politics, he was smart enough to bring in experts from the good old USA and Germany to do most of his thinking for him. A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do and in Lenin’s case it was to tongue tickle a tub. Caress the cool cream. Lick the last of the lime gelato and manhandle the mango passionfruit ripple.

He got the whole political thing from his childhood friend Karl Marx. They did a boyhood paper run in inner city London – working class Cockney Islington – and barracked for Arsenal football team.  Those were the days. Ar-Se-Naaal.

Abducted by a UFO at the age of 12 both boys returned with supernatural powers, glowing green eyes and love of ice-cream. Using the technique of time travel they also formed a hit ’80s pop band called Spandau Ballet – see video below. And so the future of the world was changed forever. It doesn’t take much to change the course of history. Apparently glowing green eyes will do it every time. I Scream You Scream We Scream for Ice Cream

Welcome to America - Now The Greatest Fascist Power in The World

Free from corporate fascism

Today I will spend ten minutes visualizing the world I would like to live in. Free from corporate fascism and procrustean socialists. Go ahead and look that one up if you need to.

pro·crus·te·an/prōəˈkrəstēən/

Adjective:
(esp. of a framework or system) Enforcing uniformity or conformity without regard to natural variation or individuality.

We don’t need procrustean socialism any more than we need corporate fascism. They are simply two sides of the same coin. What we need to do is to lighten up a little. Have some fun occasionally and then all go and sit on the railway tracks like Gandhi. Occupy the CBD with LOVE bombs of floral dissent. What’s the modern day equivalent of railway tracks? D’oh! Railway tracks!!! AND . . .Freeways.  Careful if you sit down on a Freeway. I guess you would need a fleet of pink cadillacs to start things off by stopping on the . . . .FREEWAY OF LOVE. Occupy. Resist. Kick out the jams. Take it to the streets. Change the system now mother f&%#rs.

“This is not your grandfather’s capitalism”

Make the world Free from corporate fascism
